KATIA TEIRSTEIN

Founding Partner

Katia Teirstein founded Teirstein Law in 2012 and has built her practice around helping artists and creative professionals live and work in the United States. She represents tattoo artists, fine artists, designers, makeup artists, hairstylists and the studios, salons and brands behind them, with a particular focus on O-1 visas and extraordinary-ability green cards.

Originally from Seattle, Katia is a New York State licensed attorney. She is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (“AILA”) and she has been named a “Super Lawyer” for many years in the practice area of Immigration. She holds a bachelor's degree in History from the University of Washington and graduated from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in 2010 with a concentration in Constitutional Law.

In her free time, she enjoys long-distance running (she has run all six Abbott World Major marathons), snowboarding and skiing, and watching the New York Yankees and Knicks. She is fluent in French, having lived there as a teenager. She lives in New York with her husband and their two children.
